Arnold fights spousal support for Maria

Actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has filed court papers asking his soon-to-be ex-wife Maria Shriver be denied spousal support.

The Los Angeles Times said Schwarzenegger filed the response to Shriver's divorce petition Wednesday.

In addition to addressing the spousal support issue, Schwarzenegger also asked that attorney fees and legal costs be shared.

Shriver had asked for support in her court filing and requested Schwarzenegger foot the bill for the lawsuit, the Times said.

The former couple are seeking joint custody of their two minor children, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13.

Schwarzenegger and Shriver have been married for more than 25 years and are the parents of four children, two of whom are older than 18.

Shortly after they confirmed in May they had separated this year, Schwarzenegger admitted he had fathered a son with a member of his household staff more than a decade earlier.
