Taliban militants burn 'immodest' cloth

Taliban militants in Pakistan's South Waziristan burned hundreds of yards of cloth deemed immodest for women, tribal sources said.

The militants associated with a local cleric burned the diaphanous cloth, confiscated from various shops and markets in Wana, Pakistan's News International reported Wednesday.

Tribal sources told the newspaper the militants announced a fine of rupees 50,000 (about $580) against anyone selling such cloth in the future.

The militants also banned the selling and carrying of cellphones with cameras, the report said. Those carrying such items would faced fines.
