Police find stolen tombstones at California home

Deputies searching a suspected California meth house found some two dozen granite tombstones stolen from local cemeteries in the backyard, a San Bernardino County Sheriff's spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

The grave markers found at the home in the Inland Empire community of Loma Linda on Tuesday all had custom inscriptions and had apparently been ripped from the ground, spokeswoman Jodi Miller said.

"We're all trying to figure out why," Miller said. "There's no monetary value to these. They are made out of stone, so they are very, very heavy."

Several of the tombstones were traced to cemeteries in the nearby community of Colton, and family members of deceased individuals buried there have contacted the sheriff's department, she said.

Miller said a few of the gravestones had small amounts of metal or brass attached but there was no indication the thieves were stealing them for those materials.

Also discovered at the home were two firearms and evidence that its residents were selling methamphetamine, Miller said.

A man found at the house, 50-year-old John Bleuer, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance while armed and sales of a controlled substance, she said. Deputies were still seeking three other suspects.

Miller said it was not yet clear how the tombstones, which have been valued at about $48,000, were removed from the ground or transported to the home in Loma Linda, about 70 miles east of Los Angeles.

Teen dies after fall in Yosemite Park

A 17-year-old has died at a California hospital after falling on the Mist Trail in Yosemite National Park and injuring his head severely, authorities said.

Kao Kue was airlifted to Doctor's Medical Center after the fall Sunday, the Los Angeles Times reported. He died Thursday.

Fourteen people have died in Yosemite this year, officials said. Kue will not be counted in the park's statistics because he died elsewhere.

Four people have died on the Mist Trail, which follows the Merced River. A man slipped and fell into the river in May, and three people were killed in June after climbing a guardrail at Vernal Falls.

Kari Cobb, a spokeswoman for the park, said the number of deaths this year is above average, possibly because heavy snow during the winter has raised water levels in rivers.

She said visitors to the park should be conscious of the dangers on some of its trails.

"Their safety and the risks associated with hiking the park are completely up to them to mitigate," Cobb said. "It's up to them to make the appropriate decisions to make them safe. We have signs on our most popular trails that tell visitors about some of the risks, and it is up to them to heed them."

Miranda Cosgrove breaks ankle in tour bus crash

Miranda Cosgrove, the 18-year-old star of Nickelodeon's "iCarly" TV show, broke her ankle when her tour bus crashed on Thursday, her spokeswoman said.

Cosgrove has postponed her "Dancing Crazy" North American tour until further notice because of the crash, the spokeswoman said in a statement.

"Miranda Cosgrove's tour bus was involved in an accident early this morning in Illinois on I-70, just outside of Vandalia. There were 5 passengers on the bus, and Miranda suffered a broken ankle," she said.

"We are told everyone will be fine. Because of this, her tour is postponed until further notice," the statement said.

The singer and actress kicked off the second leg of her debut solo tour in Ohio in July and it was due to end in Arizona in October before moving on to Brazil in November.

"iCarly", in which Cosgrove plays a teenager who creates her own web show, first aired in 2007 and has since won five Kids' Choice Awards.
